Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of the information and communication technology (ICT) diploma program in developing the professional competencies of school teachers from their point of view. The study sample consisted of (272) male and female teachers from the total study population of (322) male and female teachers. Diploma in Information and Communication Technology, Part Three: To measure the level of availability of professional competencies for school teachers. The study found that the effectiveness of the ICT diploma program for school teachers in Anbar Governorate from the teachers' point of view, in general, was moderate. The level of availability of professional competencies for school teachers in Anbar Governorate, from the teachers' point of view, in general, was high. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the effectiveness of the ICT diploma program due to the study variables: gender, experience, and field of specialization. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of availability of professional competencies for school teachers due to the study variables: gender, and field of specialization. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences in the level of availability of professional competencies for school teachers due to the variable of experience only. The results also showed a positive, statistically significant correlation between the level of effectiveness of the ICT diploma program and the level of availability of professional competencies for school teachers in Anbar Governorate. The study concluded with a set of recommendations, most notably working on developing the skills and competencies of teachers with regard to owning and practicing a set of teaching competencies related to the use of technology and modern technologies.
