Finding Path, Disaster Research Center in The Covid-19 Outbreak

The outbreak of the Covid-19 in 2020 is an important momentum for of Response Division of Pusat RisetKebencanaan-Universitas Padjadjaran (PRK Unpad) to carry out research and community service activities directly on campus. In the response to the Covid-19 outbreak, 76 active volunteers of PRK Unpad were recorded, consisting of lecturers, education staff and students. This study aims to describethe PRK Unpad movement in anticipating Covid-19 outbreak on campus, as a disaster, through risk disaster communication point of view. This is a qualitative study, using case study as the research method. The data collection technique is using participant observation. The researchers position as part was the key access to the research that held in March until July 2020. Focusing on the existence of PRK Unpad in anticipating Covid-19 outbreak di campus area. We're using in depth interview with several informants, paper trail that relate to PRK's movement, and internet trail that related to the issue. The results showed that in risk communication context, there was transformation in developing activities of PRK-Unpad, a university disaster research center, from a research center of excellence into community service practices throughout the pandemic.
