Abstract

• The text is of great importance in the critical lesson: its old and new, as scholars have been preoccupied with it and have given it special attention. They surrounded it with great interest, as they dealt with it in all its aspects: concepts, essences and components. Perhaps the issue of the unity of the text is one of the most prominent issues that critics focused on and they talked about it a lot, as this issue was strongly present in the ancient criticism and increased interest in it in the modern criticism, as a large area was devoted to it and many sciences concerned with the text and its unity appeared. In the second topic, which is entitled: Unity of the text, he stopped at the most prominent critical opinions of the most prominent critics who dealt with the issue of the unity of the text. As for the third topic, which is entitled: Textual coherence in theory and application, it addressed textual coherence, its implications and tools in ancient and modern criticism, and followed that up by applying some of the textual cohesion tools.
