Insects are integral to the ecological processes of Southern Tamil Nadu, playing key roles in
pollination, decomposition, pest control, and nutrient cycling. However, these vital species face
increasing threats due to habitat loss, climate change, and pesticide usage. This review article
synthesizes existing literature on insect biodiversity across various ecosystems in Southern Tamil
Nadu, examining their ecological roles and the challenges they face. It also proposes conservation
strategies to safeguard insect populations, focusing on the importance of ecosystem-based
management and sustainable practices for long-term biodiversity preservation.
