Abstract

The authors perform a theoretical review and analysis of studies in the field of children education of indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North in published foreign and Russian sources. The article presents the results of original psychological and pedagogical research performed as part of a scientific expedition to educational organizations of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. As a result of empirical research, the most acute problems of teaching, upbringing, and socialization of the North (Nenets) indigenous small-numbered peoples' children of in boarding schools and preschool institutions were identified and analyzed. Among these problems: difficulties in preschool preparation, difficulties in adapting to school, problems in mastering the Russian language and teaching the native language, problems of motivation for learning and socialization, problems of professional choice and readiness for life, health problems. The authors analyzed causal relationships of these problems and gave recommendations for their solution.
