HOUSEHOLD ORGANIC WASTE MANAGEMENT TO ADD VALUE AND VALUES IN THE COMMUNITY

The purposes of this study were 1) to study the context and problems of household and community solid waste management; 2) to study and develop the organic waste management development framework; 3) to evaluate the effectiveness of using the 3D on household organic waste management to add value and values in the community. It is action research within area of Ban Khuan Klang community, Thung Yai Sub-district, Thung Yai District. Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The results found that; 1. Ban Khuan Klang community is a community with abundant natural resources, has a community identity that adheres to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy which is indicated by a written sign in front of every house. Most people engage in agriculture. The community relies on the Tapi River as a key waterbody, the main occupation is agriculture, rubber plantations, orchards, rice farming, and vegetable gardens, being a relative community, there is the Khuan Klang Temple where people from outside the community participate in a religious ceremony, being a cultural tourist attraction caused the number of waste increasing continuously. The community managed wastes with household organic waste separation then converted to valuable things that could earn more income. 2. Development of community organic waste management framework with the lesson learned on organic waste management at Ban Khuan Klang that used wisdom to develop as organic fertilizer capsule of Ban Khuan Klang under the symbol OF-C, bio-fertilizer extracts from household, use of household fermented bucket to reduce the number of household organic waste, sell in the market to earn income from organic fertilizer capsule and make more income by selling vegetable gardens, seedlings, flowerers, garden trees, and perennials as well as being a role-model household for other households to reduce household organic waste. 3. Results from the evaluation of the effectiveness of the practice based on household organic waste management framework with organic fertilizer capsule of Ban Khuan Klang appeared that households earned more income from selling fertilizers both in the form of sacks, fertilizer capsule, bio-fertilizer extracts, moreover, it helps reduce costs and expenses, also add sentimental value on protecting the environment and be a pride for the whole community. The community has a variety of fertilizer products, has seedlings that help enhance sufficiency economy philosophy, being a role-model for other households and communities, be an identity of the Ban Khuan Klang community.
