Recently, the sustainable use of non-face-to-face online education services has been increasing rapidly owing to the spread of infectious diseases. To identify online learners, most Internet service providers (ISPs) use personal identity proofing services (PIPS) based on alternative means of resident registration number (RRN). As the use of PIPS increases, there are concerns about the excessive provision of connecting information (CI) that can uniquely identify online learners. Therefore, this paper analyzes the use status of PIPS owing to the increase in the use of non-face-to-face services and proposes methods to improve sustainable PIPS in the future. The CI, which requires safe protection and use, is a 1:1 match with the RRN created by the PIPS agency and provided to ISPs. Based on the current status of using the PIPS, in this paper we present a plan to identify future predictable service trends identify possible problems, and prevent them in advance. The possibility of utilizing sustainable personal identity authentication services and safely utilizing PIPS is also presented.
