Abstract

This paper explores the degree to which education affects Australian attitude toward political freedoms using Australia Social Survey Programme data. We find that Australian attitude toward political freedoms is greatly influenced by education. Particularly, one year increase in educational attainment makes Australian: (i) 0.7 and 2.0 percentage points more likely to support protesters’ public gatherings and demonstrations against the government, and (ii) 1.6 and 2.1 percentage points more likely to support revolutionists’ public meetings and published books to share their opinion.
