Roles of Local Administrative Organizations in Life Quality Development of Elderly People in Special Economic Zone of Nakhon Phanom

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives 1) to investigate people's opinions towards the role of Local Administrative Organizations in the life quality development of elderly people, 2) to compare people's opinions towards the role of Local Administrative Organizations in the life quality development of elderly people, and 3) to study guidelines for the life quality development of elderly people by using mixed methods research. The sample group consisted of 400 people living in the economic zone of Nakhon Phanom Province and the group of 30 interviewees by using purposive sampling. The tools used were questionnaires and structured interview forms. The statistics used to analyze the questionnaire data were mean, standard deviation, t-test and F-test and summarized the guidelines for improving the quality of life of the elderly from the interviews by analyzing the content. The results of the research found that 1) people's opinions towards the role of local Administrative Organizations in improving the quality of life of the elderly in the special economic zones of Nakhon Phanom Province. Overall, it was at a moderate level. 2) People who lived in administrative areas, ages and income sources had different opinions on the role of Local Administrative Organizations in improving the quality of life of the elderly at a statistically significant level of .05. 3) Guidelines for improving the quality of life of the elderly in health care, Local Administrative Organizations should provide medical equipment such as hearing aids, dentures, eyeglasses or walking sticks for the elderly in need. For the elderly people in mentally and socially necessary should be encouraged to form a community welfare fund by publicizing, giving advice to the community welfare fund committee and contributing to the community welfare fund in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Interior. In the economy aspect, there should be training to increase knowledge, application of technology in life, and proper occupational potentiality of the elderly.
