Abstract

Teachers’ beliefs play an important role in creating the foundation for the teachers’ practices in the classrooms. The present study investigates the mismatch between teachers’ beliefs and practices in teaching an argumentative essay. There were 2 (two) participants recruited for the study. They came from a reputable university in Surabaya, Indonesia. The data were collected from a semi structure interview. The results of the study indicated that the teachers’ beliefs cover the areas; the materials, the tasks and the mismatch between teachers’ beliefs and practice.
