The Development of English Communication Skills of Students for Agriculture Industry in Thailand

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) compare the ability on communicate in English by listening, speaking, reading and writing skills focusing on content related to the agricultural industry and 2) improve students' English communication skills emphasis is placed on the practice of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English for working in the agricultural industry. This research is a mixed method research. The population and sample are 30 sampling of the fourth-year students of the faculty of Agricultural Technology. The research tool are structured interview and Pre-test, post-test English communication skills assessment form. The result showed that the comparison of the ability to communicate in English with listening, speaking, reading and writing skills with an emphasis on content related to the agricultural industry. The average pre-test score was 9.97 points out of 20. After the students participated in the research and took the posttest, it was found that the students' post-test scores increased to 14.9 points. In addition, the result of the development of English communication skills was good, in which, students participate in the development of English communication skills with a method of discussing and exchanging opinions from problems and obstacles encountered.
