Abstract

The extent to which political violence affects the health of young children in Eastern Uganda is investigated in this study. Within a regression framework, we identify the harmful consequences of political violence on child health. Quantitatively, for an additional month of political violence, children are shorter by 0.047 standard deviations for their age, weigh less by 0.074 standard deviations for their age, and weigh less by 0.054 standard deviations for their height. Our research recommends taking immediate and effective steps to reduce the harmful repercussions of political violence.
