Abstract

Higher Emotional intelligence is a modern concept despite its ancient historical roots, and this concept has witnessed great interest by researchers in various fields. Improving academic performance and relationships with others and achieving individual happiness, and based on the foregoing, the research aims to identify: 1. Emotional intelligence among students of the Department of Mathematics in the College of Basic Education / University of Misan. 2. Are there statistically significant differences in the average emotional intelligence scores among students according to the gender variable (males, females). To achieve the objectives of the research, the research included a sample of (211) male and female students in the College of Basic Education, Department of Mathematics, for four stages and for the academic year (2020/2021 AD). From experts and specialists, and enlightened by their opinions, only the paragraphs were modified, and the total stability coefficient of the scale was extracted in two ways: the half-segmentation, which amounted to (0.852), and the Facronbach method, whose value was (0.819), and after obtaining the scale in its final form and applying it to the research sample and analyzing their response using the appropriate statistical methods were the most important results as follows: 1. Mathematics department students have a high level of emotional intelligence. 2. There are no statistically significant differences in the average emotional intelligence scores among students according to the gender variable (males, females).
