Armed Violence and Child Health in Central Uganda
Keywords:
Armed violence, young children, mother-fixed-effects regressionAbstract
The purpose of this research is to examine how armed violence influences the health of young children in Central Uganda. We identify the impacts of armed violence on health using a mother-fixed-effects regression. Quantitatively, an extra month of armed violence makes children weigh less for their age by 0.046 standard deviations and weigh less for their height by 0.054 standard deviations. Our research recommends taking immediate and effective action to limit the adverse effects of armed violence.
