CHARACTER EDUCATION OF STUDENTS BASED ON CULTURE AND LOCAL WISDOM

The purpose of this study was to determine character education based on culture and local wisdom which includes planning, implementation and supervision. This research method uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are carried out by three techniques, namely: (a). Interviews were conducted with principals, teachers and parents of students, (b). Observations are made to observe all phenomena that occur in the field (c). Documentation study to complement the data obtained from observations and interviews. Data analysis techniques are: (a) Data collection (b). Data reduction (c). Presentation of data (d). Data verification. The results of the study: (1) The character values taught to students adhere to the kinship system as the cultural value of local wisdom of Sunan Gunung Jati and the people of Cirebon. In the form of a petitih proverb, character values, religious and moral habituation, environmental care, honesty and love for the homeland (2) The inhibiting factors are the lack of supervision of students when they come home from school and the influence of the media. Factors supporting the implementation of character education in human resources, facilities and infrastructure, the learning process, support from school residents, parents, and stakeholders.
