Abstract

The researcher explored the effectiveness of using online exams for assessing students in human sciences faculties at the Emirati private universities during the COVID 19 crisis from their own perspectives. For exploring such effectiveness, he adopted a descriptive analytical approach and used a questionnaire. He designed the questionnaire through using Google Form. Then, he checked the content validity and reliability of the questionnaire. He sent the link of the questionnaire via email to five hundred female and male students. Those students were chosen purposively from the human sciences faculties in five Emirati private universities during the aforementioned crisis. Two universities were chosen from Ajman. One university was from each Emirate of the following ones: Al Ain, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. The five universities were chosen purposively too. 192 forms were filled. 3 forms were excluded because they were filled by students enrolled in scientific faculties. Thus, 189 forms were analysed through SPSS. The researcher found that the effectiveness of using online exams for assessing the targeted students during the COVID 19 crisis is high from their own perspectives. Such exams can improve students' academic achievement and provide faculty members with knowledge about the problems and weaknesses that students suffer from in academic areas and students' progress. They develop students' cognitive, problem solving and time management skills. They can reduce the stress experienced due to assessment and promote creativity among students.
