The Effectiveness Of Using Excel In Statistics For Data Science Via Online Workshop Training Course

Abstract

• This study is quasi-experimental study conducted to investigate the effect of using Excel in statistics for data science via online workshop training course. Participants in this study were individuals who worked in government and private sectors who were interested in developing themselves to become data scientists in Thailand and were selected for training. The measurement used was the measurement developed by (Brezavšček, Šparl, Žnidaršič, & Education, 2016), consists of nine aspects: actual use, future use, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, self-efficacy on Excel, computer attitude, statistics anxiety, statistics self-efficacy, and statistics learning value. Data screening and cleaning was performed in order to fulfill the requirement of performing data analysis. Accordingly, assessment of missing data, outliers, and normality were carried out. Moreover, paired sample t-test was performed analysis. The analysis was accomplished using Excel. The analysis has shown that the using Excel in statistics for data science via online workshop training course that has been done is increased knowledge and skills in the use of statistical sciences, and have been able to achieve the ultimate goal using statistical patterns of thinking precisely in statistics outside of class.
