# THE EFFECT OF ENVIRONMENT AND HABITS ON MOTIVATION IN IMPROVING STUDENTS' SPEAKING SKILLS

This study aims to determine the effect of the learning environment and study habits on students' learning motivation and speaking skills. The study was conducted at Al-Azhar 19 Islamic High School of Ciracas. East Jakarta. Indonesia, with 31 respondents consisting of 2 classes, namely class XI IPA 2 and XI IPS 1. This study used a quantitative approach with survey methods and data analysis techniques using path analysis. The results of this study indicate that: The Effect of the Learning Environment on Learning Motivation is positive and significant (tcount>ttable is 8.302> 2.039 and Pvalue <a 0.05, 0.000<0.05). The Effect of Learning Environment on Speaking Skill is positive but not significant (tcount<ttable is 0.849 <2.039 and Pvalue>a 0.05 is 0.396>0.05). The Effect of Learning Habits on Learning Motivation is positive and significant (tcount> ttable is 2,376>2,039 and Pvalue < a 0.05 is 0.018 < 0.05). The Effect of Learning Habits on Speaking Skill is positive and significant (tcount > ttable is 3.002 > 2.039 and Pvalue < a 0.05 is 0.003 < 0.05). The Effect of Learning Motivation on Speaking Skills is positive but not significant (tcount < ttable is 0.186 < 2.039 and Pvalue > a 0.05 is 0.853 > 0.05). The Effect of Learning Environment on Speaking Skill through Learning Motivation is positive but not significant (tcount>ttable is 0.186>2.039 and Pvalue >a 0.05 is 0.853 >0.05). The Effect of Learning Habits on Speaking Skill through Learning Motivation is positive but not significant (tcount>ttable is 0.158>2.039 and Pvalue> a 0.05 is 0.874>0.05).
