Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the conditions, problems, and needs of the offenders from the rehabilitation operations of the Central Correctional Institution for Young Offenders, Pathum Thani Province, Thailand. The samples used in the research were divided into two groups: 1) 12 Executives, Chiefs Officers, Program Administrators, Rehabilitation, Development Offenders, and Divisional Officers in the Offenders Administration and Offenders Development Division. 2) The 283 offenders who are from volunteer sampling. The results of the research revealed that the problems of rehabilitation operations of the Central Correctional Institution for Young Offenders, Pathum Thani Province, Thailand are as follows: 1) The budget for the implementation of the project is not suitable for the number of offenders. 2) Defective equipment materials 3) Lack of expert speakers. 4) Continuity in the delivery of materials and equipment of the employer in the case of skill training for hired workers. 5) Some courses take a long time to train. Needs and interests to be trained in five types of projects/activities: projects or activities related to professional skill development, recreational music projects or activities, sports projects or activities, projects or activities that develop knowledge skills, and religious projects or activities. While the information needed to be communicated to the offenders include suspension/reduction of penalties/promotion, off enders benefits, visitation procedures, benefits for the offenders, medical/hygiene treatment, pre-release preparation, offenders/grant grants, admissions to education, prison practice, disciplinary violations, and prohibited items.
