Abstract

A number of researches have been done in the detection and monitoring of Oil spills across the world, but the identification of the same with respect to Malaysia and especially the strait of Malacca is limited. In this particular paper, we perform a Systematic Literature Review method to gather and analyze the studies to assess the near-shore oil spill changes in the coastal area of Peninsular Malaysia. Following a predefined review procedure, we identified 70 literature papers within the years 1990-2020 presenting research on the monitoring of the oil spills onshore and offshore. We analyzed the papers to understand the preferred strategy method chosen and the logic behind it. Moreover, this study presents a related discussion and conclusions.
