(Assaad Dagher in the Viewpoints of His Critics Regarding Semantics) The Semantics of Nouns

Abstract

These research studies corrections of Asaad Dagher in the denotation of names among his critics, and Asaad Dagher is one of the modern pioneers who were concerned with the integrity of the Arabic language from impurities. His love for Arabic prompted him to write a book called Tadhkirat al-Katib, in order to point out areas of error in the writers' uses. We find semantic criticism present with Asaad Dagher, sometimes he denies the writers their generalization of the semantics of the words, and at other times he denies them the synonymy of words, that is, he prevents the expansion of meanings, and this is what makes him exposed to criticism by modern critics, they responded and commented with rational and transferable evidence and arguments from language books and authentic linguistic dictionaries, and the researcher will present some of these responses in some detail.
