Integrity Framework of Islamic Leadership in Disaster: Perspective of Surah Yusuf

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the elements of integrity of Islamic leadership in times of disaster using the approach of surah Yusuf. The method of this study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This study exploits Surah Yusuf to get the attitude of Prophet Yusuf in the face of disaster. The study found that the integrity of Islamic leadership in the face of disasters is demonstrated through the selection of officers to carry out trusts, monitoring the prices of basic necessities, safeguarding the welfare of the people, preparing strategies for disasters, controlling national borders, controlling news during disasters and providing authentic information to the people. This study contributes to the literature of integrity in the dimension of Islamic leadership. The existing literature considers the integrity of leadership to be conducted under normal state conditions. But the integrity of the leader during the epidemic is needed to fulfill responsibilities and affect subordinates and the community. Therefore, this study proposes to propose the framework of integrity of Islamic leadership to cope with the epidemic.
